The Mental Health Foundation (formerly the Foundation of Advocacy for Mental Health) encourages, develops and supports educational campaigns and other initiatives to improve understanding of mental illness and ensure access to quality care. The Foundation is particularly concerned with efforts to reduce the stigma of mental illness and encouraging individuals to seek early diagnosis.

First Lady of Saratoga Marylou Whitney and her husband John Hendrickson are greeted by former first Lady of New York State and Mental Health Foundation Board member Matilda Raffa Cuomo at last year’s August Evening in Saratoga. Whitney and Hendrickson donated $10,000 to the Foundation at the event.
